SEAOHUN 2019 Systems Thinking Workshop in Myanmar
" The Systems Thinking Workshop " was successfully conducted on February 25-27, 2019 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
In collaboration with Department of Human Resources for Health (DHRH), Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department (LBVD), and University of Veterinary Science (UVS), Southeast Asian One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) with the support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and One Health Workforce conducted the systems thinking workshop to solve complex problems in One Health on 25-27 February 2019 in Hilton Nay Pyi Taw. Twenty-eight participants from ten universities and the two ministries participated. The workshop was opened by Dr. Tin Tin Lay, Director General of DHRH. A self-evaluation completed after the workshop showed that participants were able to better describe the elements of complex problems and systems thinking, create and use systems mapping to deepen understanding of One Health problems, and felt more comfortable partnering with One Health team members to develop solutions to complex problems using systems thinking and tools. The participants expressed future training needs including risk assessment and communication, training of trainers on problem-based learning, One Health integration into university curricula, project management, and food safety as their top-five topics.
